Let's Go Sailing
May 26 - 28, 2012  
Start your holiday weekend with a unique sailing adventure on the beautiful Lake Murray. Lanier Sailing Academy is giving you the chance to try your hand at sailing this Memorial Day Weekend. Their certified sailing instructors will provide close supervision as you help sail the boat. Otherwise, you can sit back, relax, and allow them to be your guide. This special holiday activity is a 2 hour skippered sail and it is only $30 per person! Boats will leave the Southshore Marina dock at 9:30AM, 12:00PM, 2:30PM, and 5:00PM. Don't wait! Lower Richland County Memorial day Celebration

Enjoy a special Memorial Commemoration at St. John Resurrection Memorial Gardens. Afterwards, guests are invited to the Heritage Celebration at the Historic Harriet Barber House. The Heritage Celebration will begin at noon and there will be live entertainment, hay rides, a kiddie carnival, food vendors, and other vendors. Enjoy this family friendly Memorial Day Weekend Event in Columbia, South Carolina. 

Palmetto Concert Band Memorial Day Concert

The palmetto concert band presents 'A Memorial Tribute' with James Copenhaver, William Moody and Scott Weiss, conductors. Musical selections include 'Children's March' by Grainger, 'Finale' from Symphony No. 5 by Shostakovich, 'American Civil War Fantasy' by Bilik, 'Armed forces Salute' and 'The Stars and Stripes Forever'. This FREE Memorial Day 2012 event will be held at Koger Center for the Arts. 

Boots and Badges Blood Drive
May 25 - 30, 2012
Looking for way to give back to the community this holiday weekend? Columbia area residents are invited to show their support for local firefighters and police officers and become a hero this summer by giving blood for patients in need. The Columbia Police Department and Columbia-Richland Fire Department are partnering with the American Red Cross South Carolina Blood Services Region for the 3rd annual Boots and Badges Blood Drive. The event will be held at the American Red Cross Columbia donation center on May 25, 26, 28, 29, and 30th. All donors at the Boots and Badges blood drive will receive a free t-shirt and have the opportunity to win prizes!
