Governor's Cup Road Race
November 9, 2013
Launched in 1973, the Lexington Medical Center Governor’s Cup Road Race is one of the oldest, continuously conducted road race events in the Southeast.  The 2013 event will take place on November 9, and it will feature half-marathon, 8 kilometer, 4-mile walk and kids’ cup races.  Many enhancements will be added this year! Chili Cook-Off in Five Points

Runway Run 5K

The annual Runway Run first celebrated the re-opening of the main runway at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport in 2010 after completing a seven-month reconstruction process. In its fourth year, there is still excitement among participants to tread on highly secured tarmac where more than 85,000 passengers take off and land each month. Quarry Crusher Run
April 20, 2013
The Quarry Crusher Run is the only race of its kind in South Carolina and one of only a handful in the entire country. The approximately 3.72 mile route starts and finishes at the green space in front of Olympia and Granby Mills Apartments. Once in the quarry, the route winds down a 10% grade through granite cliffs to the quarry floor. The approximately 375-foot ascent from the quarry floor to the finish marks the grueling event as Columbia's most challenging foot race. Click here for more information.

Brave the chilly waters in support of Children's Charities of the Midlands at the Polar Bear Plunge. The first splash is scheduled to occur at 10:30AM in lake Carolina's Sunset Park. Adult polar bears are asked to make a $10 donation to Children's Charities of the Midlands before taking the plunge. Polar bears younger than 18 are just $5 per participant. Big Tree Hike

Judging took place on Wednesday, July 11, 2012. Winners will be announced by Sustainable Midlands at the 3rd Annual Palmetto Tasty Tomato Festival.
